Enjoy Hanoi, Vietnam by boat! We are renowned for offering a unique cultural journey and an opportunity to understand more about life and nature along the legendary river. As part of our 2 days cruise, you will spend the night at Luang Say Lodge, and experience the fiery and romantic sunset from your luxury teak and rosewood bungalow along the river. Join our Mekong cruise in this rich, colorful and historic region, largely untouched by the modern world. About The Luang Say Boat: Our boat is 34 metres long with a 420 HP engine and a steel hull for strength and safety. The boat has a capacity for 40 people seated in comfortable chairs and benches. Each seat has an open air vista. We also have coffee tables with magazines and booklets to read during your cruise. Each cruise departure has both a French and an English speaking guide who are able to answer your questions and point out the many sights of interest along the way. We also have a fearless captain, a qualified mechanic and a boat boy. On board we have two western style toilets, one at the back of the boat as well as one next to the bar in the central section. Life jackets are available in a variety of sizes including sizes for children. There are also rails around the sides of the boat for passenger safety. Luggage can be stored and locked securely overnight in a large compartment underneath the deck. Cuisine On Board: Around noon, we are happy to serve you a buffet lunch, carefully prepared to introduce you to Laotian cuisine and its typical flavors. Water, tea and coffee are complimentary during the cruise on the Mekong but we also have a bar, complete with rattan bar stools, serving wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks which can be purchased. Frequently Asked Questions: • What time does the border at Houei Say open and close? The Lao and Thai immigration checkpoints at Houei Say and Chiang Khong both open at 8 am, and close at 6 pm. • What should I wear? You should wear light, loose-fitting, cotton clothing for your cruise. Short-sleeved shirts and light-weight trousers are ideal. Long, light trousers are a good idea since shorts leave your legs exposed to insect bites. Halter tops (necks) and hot pants are discouraged. Lao and mountain people are offended by tight and overly revealing clothing. The best footwear are sports shoes or walking boots, especially in rainy season when village visits can be slippery. A hat is advised for the tropical sun, and sunglasses are certainly a good idea. Evenings and early mornings can be surprisingly chilly in winter – even sometimes close to freezing (or at least feeling that way) in December and January, so bring a sweater, socks, and a casual jacket, windbreaker (cheater), or anorak. • Do I need my own Insurance? Even if Luang Say journeys are fully insured for accident or misadventure. We do strongly advise our customers to have their own insurance as well, since claims can be complex and time consuming. • Do we have porters for our bags? Yes we do have porters. • Does the boat have safety equipment? The boat is equipped with fire extinguishers and life jackets in adult and children's sizes. A boat mechanic travels on every cruise.
